Genetics and Detoxification.

Symptoms of poor detoxification occur when a person gets to their limit of accumulated toxins and are not able to clear them efficiently. We call this toxic burden. The toxic burden in a persons body can be attributed to three aspects:

1. There is toxicant exposure to both internal and external sources.

2. Each person’s genetic predisposition to successfully produce detoxification enzymes for processing these compounds is different.

3. Proper nutrition and ongoing dietary ingestion of helpful detoxification nutrients can impact the body’s capacity to appropriately reduce the presence of toxicants

Symptoms related to the buildup of toxins may include:DETOXIFICATION

  • Fatigue and insomnia

  • Weight gain and weight loss resistance

  • Influence on type 2 diabetes

  • Influence infertility

  • Behaviour and mood disorders, anxiety

  • Allergies

  • Metabolic syndrome

  • Neurological conditions such as tremors, headaches, and cognitive difficulties along with negative effects on several other diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s

The detoxification process is influenced by the ‘G’ and the ‘E’ in the G+E= H Health equation, determining how we handle our environmental (external) as well as internally generated toxins. Possible reasons why the body doesn’t clear toxins efficiently from an Environment (E) and a Genetic (G) perspective include:

E = Environmental

increased exposure to toxins, gut dysbiosis, deficiencies in specific nutrients, poor diet, stress, chronic diseases, excessive inflammation, not getting enough physical activity or restful sleep.

G = Genetics

variations may impact the ability of enzymes to efficiently convert toxins into

compounds that can be excreted.
